The Fair-Haired Dumbbell is a 40,000 sf commercial building with retail, restaurant, and creative office space located in Portland, OR

RSC provided: Lobby: Creative Direction, Interior Design, Art Installation, Styled Photography // Building: Signage and Directory Design

Our design activates this small lobby and adds interest where 3D and 2D art converge and wrap around the walls for a seamless experience. We collaborated with The Good Mod to fabricate the 3D wall. By painting it in four different monochromatic tones, we created a forced shadow effect. Revolution Design House partnered with us, creating custom furniture in Ash to complement the wood tones throughout the building. The chairs were upholstered in Pendleton wool fabric, selected to match our color palette. We sourced the rug locally from Lapchi Carpets. We designed the signage for both buildings and the lobby directory using a design language that reinforces the colors and finishes in the lobby, the tone of blue in the exterior mural, and the wood throughout both buildings. Our architectural photography celebrates the building and showcases unique perspectives.
